Why is this Golf car gas-only? Research showed that most customers wanted a system that completely removed the need to have petrol on the premises. This overcomes the difficulties that customers are encountering in both transporting and storing large quantities of petrol. A 100% gas Golf car is also the most cost effective way of converting a Golf car.
Are gas-powered Golf cars safe?
20,000 Forklift Trucks and 10s of thousands of Road Vehicles are already using technologies similar to that used on the Golf car and have an excellent safety record.
What happens if I run out of fuel?
A fuel gauge is conveniently located on the Golf car to ensure you do not run out.
How do I know how much gas is in the bulk tank?
There is a gauge under the cover of the bulk tank and the fitter will explain how to read this gauge, as well as how to fill the Golf cars onboard tank. You then have the option of keeping an eye on the bulk tank gauge and ringing Calor when you want the tank refilled. Alternatively Calor will carry out automatic top-ups based on your predicted consumption or where possible offer the fully computerised telemetry system which organises deliveries as you need them.
What are the requirements with regards to locating the bulk gas tank?
Dependent upon the size of bulk tank, it will be required to locate the tank a minimum distance from a building or boundary. This is 3 metres in the case of the 2000 litre tank. You will also be required to provide a concrete base for the siting of the tank. The Calor Sales Consultant will advise you on the best location, for your particular circumstances, when he visits you.
How long will it take to get a bulk tank on my premises?
It will normally take about six weeks from the date of golf car purchase to install a tank at your premises.
How does the performance compare to petrol golf cars?
There will be no perceptible difference between a gas powered and a petrol golf car.
Can I run my Golf car and my car from the same gas tank?
Yes, but a road-going vehicle must only be powered by duty-paid fuel – currently 4.5 pence per litre + VAT. If you wish to run your Golf car from your Autogas tank, this would be perfectly legal. You would still save 50% on the cost of the fuel and, the tank and pump rentals would only be paid for the one tank and pump that services both vehicles. Under no circumstances should a Road-going vehicle be filled from a Golf car tank on which no duty will have been charged.
Can I connect a hand pump on to my existing vapour off-take tank?
No. We do not recommend both vapour and liquid off-take from the same tank. Small oil deposits can form in the bottom of vapour off-take tanks. This causes no problem when vapour only is drawn from the top of the tank, but can cause problems in applications using liquid which is drawn from the bottom of the tank.
Why do I have to rent the equipment? Could I purchase my own tank and electric pump?
A requirement exists that a liquid gas pressurised vessel and its attachments are checked by a competent person at regular intervals. Calor’s policy is to insure, inspect and maintain all our own tanks. By maintaining ownership of the equipment, Calor discharges the customer of the responsibility of purchasing and insuring the tank and pump.
The dealer has quoted me a guide price for my gas. What happens if I am already paying more or less for my gas than this guide price?
Calor sets prices in its markets according to various criteria, including the cost of developing that market, the cost of the equipment being used and, the volume of gas that a customer is likely to use. When your Calor Sales Consultant calls to see you, he will assess the final cost of your installation, take into account your likely consumption, and then quote you a price based upon this.
What happens if I need to make contact with Calor Gas Limited?
The salesman will provide a list of contacts for sales, tank installation and filling. If you require any further assistance or information before our salesman has made contact with you, please call Calor on 0845 6038095
